Embarking on a chromatic journey that transcends the ordinary, Asian Paints, the visionary leader in the realm of colors, presents an annual masterpiece that is more than just a forecast - it's a kaleidoscopic odyssey. Celebrating its 21st year, the ColourNext Colour and Material Intelligence forecast emerges as a cultural compass, navigating the subcontinent's creative landscape.

Amit Syngle, Managing Director and CEO, the maestro at the helm of Asian Paints Ltd., transforms this yearly unveiling into an artistic revelation. From the company's humble beginnings in 1942 to its current status as India's leading and Asia's second-largest paint company with a consolidated turnover of ₹345 billion, Asian Paints has become synonymous with innovation, introducing concepts like Colour Ideas, Beautiful Homes Painting Service, Colour Next, and Beautiful Homes Stores. “Today, Asian Paints is the No. 1 integrated player in home décor across the country. Our endeavour is that we look at mass premium and luxury, and see how we can influence people in terms of our offerings and designs. We are into kitchen, bathroom, lighting and furnishings, all under Beautiful Homes,” he explained.

In the vibrant tapestry of 2024, Terra emerges as the Colour of the Year, beckoning us into its rich primal tones that exude a grounding sense of belonging. Terra is not just a hue; it's a narrative, a journey back to our roots, celebrating authenticity and innovation amidst the chaos. Syngle articulates, “As we mark the 21st year of Asian Paints ColourNext, it remains a driving force in shaping the design and decor industry adding to the colour and material intelligence in a strong way. Each carefully curated trend not only tells stories, but also serves to inspire and influence the industry towards ideas based on socio economic changes and the design evolution around us.  In 2024, with Terra as our Colour of the Year, we delve even deeper into the realm of authenticity and innovation. It’s more than just a shade, it's a journey back to our roots, to our essence. Alongside this, we present four captivating trends—Soil, Into the Deep, Indo Futurism, and Goblin Mode—each narrating a unique story of rediscovery and originality. Through every trend, our goal is to spark creativity, foster connections, and evoke a sense of belonging. This year's color and trend palette is, at its core, a celebration of individuality and introspection. ColourNext 2024 continues its legacy, inspiring creativity and setting the tone for a vibrant and dynamic design journey.

As the unveiling continues, the Wallpaper of the Year, Samsara, takes center stage. Crafted with pigments derived from mud, tea leaf, and natural dyes, it's an intense composition echoing the profound beauty of soil. A poetic tribute to the very earth that grounds us.

The crescendo builds with the collaboration between design virtuoso Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Nilaya for the Paris-Calcutta collection. Inspired by the Paris of the East, Calcutta, the collection is an unapologetic celebration of poets, revolutionaries, artists, and rebels. Featuring over 30 wallpapers and 120+ fabrics, the opulent range spans the spirit of two cities - Paris and Calcutta.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee enthuses, "Paris-Calcutta is a tale of two cities, both exuberant in spirit and abundant with art, thought, charm and glamour. One is the city that has consumed my imagination, the other is my home and eternal muse. From the Left Bank to the bylanes of Chowringhee, packed with poets, rebels and sophisticates. With hand painted motifs created by The Sabyasachi Art Foundation, this collection of wallpapers and fabrics co-created with Asian Paints brings together the sophisticated artistry and cultural decadence of these two cities."

Syngle expresses his excitement about the decade-long collaboration, praising Sabyasachi's sublime eclecticism and original eye. "I am excited to present our fourth collection with the design genius Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Our association over the last ten years has been nothing short of magnificent and as India’s best-known designer, Sabyasachi really exceeds our expectations in terms of what he’s able to create, sublime eclecticism, and an original eye and design instinct which is a class by itself. It is a great privilege for us to constantly collaborate to bring the finest offerings in wallcoverings and in furnishings to our discerning customers, both in India and across the world. With each collection, the offerings from Sabyasachi and Nilaya get more nuanced and more special. Over the last few years, we have looked at giving Sabya’s creations a certain depth through varied techniques, so we retain the rich and layered look of the master craftsman and bring out the exquisite beauty of his designs. We’re using substrates that are first of its kind in the business and are very excited to put Sabyasachi’s designs on them. All in all, I think PARIS TO CALCUTTA is an incredible collection which transports us to a world of beguiling beauty, luxury and splendour -revived through a masterful contemporary eye. We are very proud to showcase as Sabyasachi for Nilaya, Asian Paints."

Asian Paints, with its evolution into a holistic home improvement and decor brand, has not just transformed the paint industry but ventured into lightings, furnishings, and furniture. With a portfolio that includes SmartCare for waterproofing, WoodTech for wood finishes, and Adhesives for all surfaces, the company embodies a comprehensive approach.

In essence, Asian Paints' ColourNext 2024 is a celebration of individuality, introspection, and a vibrant journey into the heart of design and decor. The Terra-inspired palette and the Paris-Calcutta collection redefine trends, setting the stage for a year of authenticity, innovation, and rediscovery. As we embark on this chromatic adventure, the canvas of 2024 awaits, painted with the strokes of Terra and the grandeur of Paris-Calcutta.
